DEAN HETTINGER FOR COSHOCTON COUNTY COMMISSIONER

PROVEN TRUSTED LEADERSHIP

Vote May 5th

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

My name is Dean Hettinger, and I’m honored to be running for Coshocton County Commissioner.

Coshocton has been my home since 1985, when my family settled on a farm west of Warsaw. I graduated from River View High School in 1990 and went on to earn a degree in Police Science. That decision began what has now been over 30 years of service to our county through the Sheriff’s Office.

I started my career as a deputy in the jail and worked my way up—Sergeant, Lieutenant, and ultimately Chief Deputy, where I oversaw day-to-day operations, managed more than 50 employees, and worked with local, state, and federal partners on budgets, contracts, and major projects. Along the way, I was proud to bring in more than a million dollars in funding and equipment to strengthen our county.

Even in retirement, I continue to serve part-time with the Sheriff’s Office while working our family farm and helping with Ohio Dumpster Rentals. I’m also proud to serve as Vice President of both the United Way Board and the Coshocton County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Giving back to this community has always been at the heart of who I am.

But what I’m most proud of is my family. My wife, Jennifer, has served as a paramedic here since 1998. Together we’ve raised two wonderful children—Bailey, who earned her Master’s in Biology and is married to David, a Crew Chief in the Air Force; and Owen, who will soon graduate from Xavier University with a degree in Finance. Both are River View graduates, just like me.

I am running for Commissioner because I believe my experience, dedication, and deep roots in this community have prepared me to serve in a new way. As your Commissioner, I will:

  • Be a good steward of your tax dollars through transparency and fiscal responsibility.

  • Put my leadership experience to work managing projects and budgets that impact all of us.

  • Continue building partnerships with local, state, and federal leaders to bring resources into our county.

  • Stand firm in support of our local values, including the 2nd Amendment and the freedoms we hold dear.

  • Keep Coshocton a place we are proud to call home.

I’ve been honored to be called a “hometown hero” in the past, but the real heroes of Coshocton County are its people—you, your families, your businesses, and your hard work and dedication to our community. I want to continue working alongside you to strengthen our future.

On May 5th, I would be grateful for your vote. Together, we can move Coshocton forward with Proven Trusted Leadership.

Sincerely,

Dean Hettinger

Meet Dean

“I’ve proudly called Coshocton County home for nearly 40 years.”

I was raised on a farm near Warsaw, graduated from River View High School, and went on to study Police Science. In 1994, I began what became a 30+ year career in public service with the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.

Along the way, I met and married my wife Jennifer in 1998, a dedicated paramedic with Coshocton EMS (since 1994), and together we’ve raised two amazing children, Bailey and Owen—both River View graduates.

Today, I still serve part-time with the Sheriff’s Office, help operate our family farm, and remain active with local organizations that make Coshocton stronger.

Experience You Can Trust

Over three decades, I’ve worked my way from Deputy at the jail to Chief Deputy. In that role, I:

✔️ Oversaw county, city, and jail budgets with fiscal responsibility.

✔️ Worked directly with local, state, and federal leaders.

✔️ Secured over $1 million in funding and equipment for Coshocton County.

✔️ Helped implement major projects like the MARCS radio system.

I’ve also served as:

✔️ Founding Member and Commander of the Sudden Response Team (SRT)

✔️ Graduate of Police Motorcycle School, Basic & Advanced SWAT, and Range Master training

Community Leadership

Serving our community doesn’t end with law enforcement. I’m proud to also serve as:

✔️ Recognized as a Hometown Hero through Peoples Bank

✔️ Graduate of Leadership Coshocton

Why I’m Running

Coshocton is my home. It’s where I’ve raised my family, worked the land, and dedicated my career to public service. As Commissioner, I want to use my experience to make a difference in new ways.

My priorities include:

✔️ Fiscal Responsibility – Protect taxpayer dollars and ensure efficient use of county budgets.

✔️ Strong Partnerships – Continue building bridges with local, state, and federal leaders to bring in resources.
